10 Year old Peter
gets his Amateur Licence!

See below.
Meetings 2009.
Friday evenings, start around 19:30 We
are a Radio Club which has
been in existence for nearly 50 years. As the name would suggest we are
located on the Isle of Wight. Our current HQ is at
Ryde. We currently have a
membership of approx 30. We
have a net on 2 metres 145.375MHz+/- at 20:00hrs
every Wednesday.
New
Premises at Haylands
Farm Salters Road Ryde.
Haylands Farm is signposted from Upton Road. It is on the left near
the end of Salters Road, not too obvious, drive slowly - look for the
yard as you reach the entrance. We are, for the time being, using a
building beyond the main hall. Walk past the hall entrance, take the
path between the buildings, you will see our building. See
"About us" for a map.
October 2008
At the moment training sessions for the
amateur licence are in progress, the students range from
sub-teenage to mature.
Saturday 18th JOTA operated from the Club
for the Scouts.
Sunday 11th a group visit to Kempton Park.
September 2008
Progress on the final planning of the
building that will contain our Club Room grinds on. We
contacted John G7MAR/MM by satellite, but his son Peter was
not at the Club that night.
June 2008
Steve and Alex are now 2E0BSK AND 2E0DTI
having just passed the Intermediate. We also have some new M3s
to report, including Bert M6BRT, at 81 he can not be described as a
youngster! Also Nicky M6NKY.
May 2008
Ian gave an interesting talk on how radio
waves and the ionosphere were discovered. He revealed that
radio waves were first discovered by mathematics!
Our summer satellite station is now setup.
To avoid local QRM (Club chatter) it is on a table outside the
club with a LARGE 12V battery PSU.
February 2008
We now have our mast installed next
to our building so are getting nearer to being a proper radio
club again!
